Home - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

Home - Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros

"Home" is a song by American group Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. It was released in January 2010 and is part of the album "Up From Below". The song was first featured on the first episode of "Debate 109" of the NBC comedy Community which aired on November 12th, 2009.

The song was thought of by the lead singers whilst on a hike together and Ebert had to carry Castrinos home on his back after she lost her shoes. This is when they started the song one line at a time switching between one another to string together a heartfelt song which showed their feelings for one another.

Music Video

The video is a compilation of clips from a summer trip where a large group are all enjoying themselves, it depicts singers Alex Ebert and Jade Castrinos making memories together.
The camera shots vary largely, they include: close ups, tilted frames, low angle shots, and many more. These are useful as they show the emotion of the characters and also their surroundings.

In this video their is minimal special effects on the footage however there is a vintage filter effect which has a older look to it, the group themselves have a 60's appeal and dress in vibrant and noticeable clothing and have devoted themselves to a 'minimalist' and 'free' life.

What Inspires Me?

The key feature that inspires me from this video is the way it is comprised, the footage plays like a memory and it makes the video have more of a connection to the audience as will remember happy times of their own to compare it with.
