"Thinking Out Loud" is a song by British singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran and was released in the UK on the 24th September 2014. The song became incredibly popular and spent 19 weeks in the top 40 before peaking at number one in November the same year.

Music Video

The music video to accompany the song was directed by Emil Nava and was filmed in the Crystal Ballroom at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, Los Angeles. In this video Sheeran is the main focus alongside his dance partner Brittany Cherry in which they perform a elegantly choreographed dance which fits the tone and emotion of the song perfectly.

The video incorporates a lot of wide shots to show off both performers and also capture the grandeur of the setting, medium close ups are also used when the dancers are close together to show their emotion and that they feel safe together.

The editing used is very minimal, there are not many special effects or any heavy alteration, instead the camera movement is very fluid and follows the performance is gentle moments which connote to the calm they feel together as the song suggests.

The story of the video is being told through the movement of the dances and even by only watching the video you would be able to tell it is a calm and mellow song,

what inspires me about this video is its use of camera angles and lighting, it inspires me because it requires no special effects yet looks just as stunning and allows for proper emotion to be portrayed.
